Americana singer/songwriter Terry Mills has an uncanny gift for nailing complex emotions in her songs. Terry's songs are honestly felt and capture the essence of the human spirit. Her songs cover a wide spectrum of genres, introspection, observations and stories: from obsession in “Man Behind the Curtain”, isolation in “Island Girl”, and the true life stories in “Psycho Cat” and “We're Related”. Fans of Emmylou Harris, Patty Griffin, Nora Jones, Bonnie Raitt, Joni Mitchell, Lucinda Williams, and Eliza Gilkyson will discover another new favorite in Terry Mills. Terry started playing guitar to learn "The House of the Rising Sun." Her influences are Simon and Garfunkel, Bob Dylan, Joni Mitchell, Emmylou Harris, James Taylor, Dan Fogelberg and Shawn Colvin. She has played with a couple of bands in her hometown of San Angelo, Texas, and currently is a member of Acoustix, a trio who showcase some of her original songs.
Terry’s first album “Man Behind The Curtain was co-produced with Gary Laney and released on Palmwood Music June 10th, 2010. Gary was manager and chief engineer at Sound Emporium Recording Studios in Nashville for 18 years recording albums for artists Keith Whitley, Trisha Yearwood, Texas Tornados, REM, Al Kooper, Don Williams , Alan Jackson, Amazing Rhythm Aces, New Grass Revival and Jason & The Scorchers to name a few. His work has won many major awards, including a Grammy and several CMA’s.
